FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
District and Teachers Association to return to the bargaining table March 20
Negotiations teams from the Gresham-Barlow School District and the Gresham-Barlow Education Association will meet in a mediated negotiations session on March 20. The session will begin at 9 a.m. and will take place at The Center for Advanced Learning.
On March 13, the school board voted to implement the district’s 2011-13 Licensed Collective Bargaining Agreement Proposal. Superintendent Schlachter had recommended implementation so the district could meet critical deadlines as it plans for the 2012-13 school year. The district’s proposed 2012-13 budget is due in April, a proposed academic calendar must be completed by April 5, and school staff needs to finalize master schedules and build schedules for the 3,700 high school students the district serves.
If no settlement is reached, implementation of the district’s proposal is set to occur on March 22.
The district and the teachers association have been bargaining for close to a year. More information about the district’s negotiations with the Gresham-Barlow Education Association can be found online at www.gresham.k12.or.us.
